Ravi Shanbhag

Director, Data Science at UnitedHealth Group Ravi Shanbhag is Director of Data Science at UnitedHealth Group, a diversified health care company headquartered in the United States, serving the markets for health benefits through UnitedHealthcare and the growing markets for health services through Optum. As Chief Architect of the primary Advanced Analytics platform at UHC Finance, Ravi is responsible for providing technical and strategic leadership in solving complex analytic problems across the Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial businesses. Ravi has a Masters in Applied Statistics from Penn State, an MBA from Texas A&M, and an Engineering Degree in Computer Science from Manipal, India.

John Omernik

Sr. Research Consultant, Dell SecureWorks John Omernik is currently a data architect at Secureworks, where he helps build up systems to bridge the gap between data and security. John has been active in the banking industry; he began in systems architecture before moving to information security and finally to fraud intelligence and analytics.

Jim Scott

Director, Enterprise Strategy & Architecture, MapR Jim has held positions running Operations, Engineering, Architecture and QA teams. Jim is the cofounder of the Chicago Hadoop Users Group (CHUG), where he has coordinated the Chicago Hadoop community for the past 5 years. Jim has worked in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Digital Advertising, Digital Mapping, Chemical and Pharmaceutical industries. Jim has built systems that handle more than 50 billion transactions per day. Jim's work with high-throughput computing at Dow Chemical was a precursor to more standardized big data concepts like Hadoop.
